________

Athar is a collection of four ambient lighting pieces made from discarded shells and glass waste collected from restaurants across the UAE.

The collection explores consumption, gathering and permanence through the reassignment and transformation of materials that have already served a first purpose. Shells are largely retained in their existing form and repurposed as light diffusers. Their natural curvature, ridged surfaces and pearlescent interiors soften and texture the light, allowing each piece to produce subtle variations in glow and shadow. Discarded glass follows a different process, being broken, melted and reformed into luminous elements.

The forms of the four lights draw from patterns and structural systems found in nature, including repetition, branching, clustering and accumulation. These organic references are translated into controlled contemporary frameworks, creating a deliberate contrast between the irregularity of the salvaged materials and the precision of the supporting structures.
